Bringing Back Churned VIPs: 202 Depositors, €171K, Zero New Traffic

Most affiliates measure their value in new players.
Vegas Legends found €171,849 in players the operator already had.
Our affiliate partner Vegas Legends came to Converst on behalf of a Tier 1 operator they work with. The operator was sitting on a database of long-churned VIP players. Not cold prospects, but players with a history. Each one chose this operator once and deposited. Then life, a losing streak or a new offer elsewhere pulled them away, and most had been silent for months.
The players came from several markets, led by Europe's Tier1, LatAm and Réunion.
The real question was not “How do we find new players?” It was “How do we bring back the high-value players we already acquired an dalready converted once?”.
The Revenue Nobody Was Chasing
Some of the operator’s best players hadn’t logged in for months. No complaint, no issues. They just stopped showing up.
The usual plan? Send another bonus email and hope they find their own way back.
They rarely do. Industry data shows that only around 2% of churned players come back on their own after three months, and these VIPs werewell past that point.
Left alone, they were never coming back, so someone had to pick up the phone and call them.
One Partnership, Two Roles
Vegas Legends brought the opportunity and the operator relationship. Converst brought the engine built for exactly this: a dedicated VIP reactivation team that ran the campaign from data cleaning to the calls themselves.
Best of all, it didn’t cost either side anything extra. The operator did not need a new acquisition budget, and Vegas Legends did not need to source new traffic. The value was already in the database, untouched.
The Converst-R Strategy
1. Shape the database before contacting it
Before a single call, automation removed unusable contacts: invalid and non-existent numbers, duplicates, incorrect details and black listed accounts.
Player data stayed encrypted throughout and was used only for this campaign. Clean data meant every conversation counted.
2. Segment before you communicate
Every churned player was approached differently. The database was segmented by:
- Market, because language, regulation and player behavior all change from one country to the next
- Churn period and deposit history, to understand how each player used to play before they went quiet
- Player behavior and context, drawing on relevant CRM information wherever it was available
Segmentation shapes the conversation. Each agent knew who they were calling, and why that player might have stopped.
3. Human conversations across three channels
Players were reached through outbound calls, SMS, WhatsApp and email, so each one could be contacted on the channel they were most likely to answer.
Every conversation was led by a dedicated VIP team who listened first and responded to what the player actually said. No scripts read at players, but real conversations with people the brand already knew.
4. What happens when the player does not answer?
Across the campaign, Converst made 4,564 call attempts against 474validated leads. That is roughly 9.6attempts per lead.
Winning a player back rarely happens on the first call. It takes a managed, persistent process built on follow-up, where a missed call issimply the start of the next attempt.
5. Quality control for all 45 days
Converst’s QA teams monitored calls throughout the campaign. They kept communication consistent, worked to the operator's requirements andmade sure every player’s conversation was handled correctly.
This oversight ran for the full 45 days, not just as a final check at the end
6. Live visibility for both partners
Nobody had to wait until the campaign ended to find out how it went. Vegas Legends and the operator followed progress through Power BI dashboards updated twice a day, tracking everything from call attempts and answered calls to logins, deposits and conversion.
Results were broken down by market and churn segment, so both partners could see exactly where the campaign was working while it was still running.

What do the numbers say:
• 42.6% of validated leads became depositors again. 202 players who had been acquired had churned and then came back.
• 304 players logged back in during the campaign, roughly 64% of the validated base.
• 61.8% of players who answered a call went on to deposit (202 of 327). A real conversation correlated strongly with a real return.
• €851 average recovered value per depositor.
One honest note: 42.6% is a lead-to-depositor rate. It is not the conversion rate of answered calls, and it should not be read that way.
Why This Matters for Affiliates
For an affiliate, a churned player is a relationship that has stopped paying. Most affiliate work ends at the first deposit, but this campaign shows what happens when it doesn’t: Vegas Legends created new value for the operator without sending a single new click.
For the operator, the risk sat with Converst. Every reactivation campaign is built around results, so you only pay for the players we successfully bring back.
Final Takeaway
These weren’t new players. The operator had already paid to acquire them and already converted them once, and within 45 days, 42.6% of them came back and deposited again. The deposits came first, and only then the invoice.
Whether you’re an operator or an affiliate partner, your next revenue opportunity may already be sitting in your inactive player base.
New traffic costs money. Your churned players already know the way back.
